Fox's Kelly gives "hat tip" to birther, Obama-Hitler Youth comparing blog Gateway Pundit

On the September 2 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom, co-host Megyn Kelly gave a "hat tip" to the blog Gateway Pundit, which Kelly said is where "we found" video of "a new effort to silence critics of the Democrats' [health care] plan." The Gateway Pundit blog has frequently pushed the conspiracy theory that President Obama doesn't have a valid birth certificate; speculated that Obama may instead be a Kenyan; and recently compared Obama's September 8 speech about "persisting and succeeding in school" to indoctrinating the Hitler Youth.

KELLY: Well, we showed you some new video at the top of the hour of a pro-health care reform group mounting a new effort to silence critics of the Democrats' plan. You are about to see that amateur video again, shot outside of a townhall event for Illinois Democrat Jan Schakowsky. Now take a listen to this guy. He -- the guy who filmed this, actually, he shot it and then when he posted it to the Web, he put the words up, word for word what he heard this guy saying. All right? So you're gonna get it all as he saw it. This guy is giving lessons on how to make sure those in attendance do not get the chance to openly question the Democrats' plan.

KELLY: Well, Joel Pollack is the Harvard Law School grad who actually shot that amateur video and attended the town hall. He's my guest now. Hi, Joel.

POLLACK: Hi, good morning.

KELLY: And a hat tip to Gateway Pundit, which I guess is -- that's how we found it, in any event.

Gateway Pundit posted a September 1 entry titled, "CAUGHT ON TAPE: Obama HCAN Organizer Instructs Supporters How to Shout Down Opponents & Take Over Meetings."

Gateway Pundit: Obama's birth certificate a fake; Obama is Kenyan

Gateway Pundit: "It Has Begun ... Obama's Kenyan Birth Certificate Sold On eBay." In a June 29 post, Gateway Pundit wrote that "Obama's Kenyan birth certificate was recently posted for sale on eBay. Unfortunately, the internet auction website deleted the item listing after it was posted."

Gateway Pundit: "Barack Obama Is a Citizen of Kenya..." In an August 9, 2008, post, Gateway Pundit asserted that "Obama has Kenyan citizenship as well as US citizenship," and also claimed that "Obama is embarrassed about being an American citizen."

Gateway Pundit: "Tests Show That Barack Obama's Birth Certificate Is a Forgery." On July 20, 2008, Gateway Pundit promoted claims that Obama's birth certificate posted online is a "forgery."

Gateway Pundit: "Obama Website Implicated In Misleading Public With Bogus Document." Gateway Pundit wondered on July 4, 2008, why the Obama campaign is "promoting these forged documents" about Obama's birth certificate.

Gateway Pundit: "Barack Obama: Bastard Child?... Or Son of a Bigamist?" Gateway Pundit wrote on June 10, 2008, that there "are longstanding rumors going around about why he will not release this this information including that he was born in Kenya and that his real name is Barry." The blogger added that Obama's birth certificate "may help settle the argument on whether Obama is a [sic] illegitimate child or the son of a bigamist."

Gateway Pundit: Obama "Dear Leader," comparisons to Hitler Youth

Gateway Pundit: "Dear Leader will address the beloved youth on September 8th." Discussing Obama's upcoming September 8 speech about "persisting and succeeding in school," Gateway Pundit compared the address to indoctrinating the Hitler Youth. From the September 1 post:

In an unprecented move, President Obama will address the nation's youth at their institutions of indoctrination.

Gateway Pundit has also frequently compared legislation regarding public service to the Hitler Youth. The blogger also regularly refers to Obama as "Dear Leader."

America's Newsroom previously cited "[c]onservative [b]logs" as sources

America's Newsroom research source: "Conservative Blogs." On the August 19 edition of America's Newsroom, Fox News simply sourced its information about members of Congress purportedly "dodging" town hall debates to "Conservative Blogs":

      It shows how "fair and balanced" that Fox is when they only site conservative blogs as sources. These are the same sources that say Obama is born on Mars and will lead an alien invasion of the world.

      Why not show the number of republicans having fake town meetings where only invited guests are allowed to attend?

      Citing "conservative blogs" as a source reminds me of a long-running ad for one of the lower-rent massage parlors in Atlanta, boasting of "attractive staff" with no other information whatsoever.

      Now is Fox News trying to say that left-winged people is the only ones disturbing town hall meetings and right-winged people never did? Again I ask is Fox News REALLY trying to say that if you are a left-winged person you better not disturb town hall meetings because right-wing people are going in peace?

      Why can't left-winged people disturb town hall meetings? It is only to shut-up the crazy right winged shouting lies.

      Is everyone who apply at Fox News writes on their resume: I AM A RIGHT-WINGED CONSERVATIVE WHO LIKES TO LIE ON ALL LIBERALS AND PROGRESSIVES! I beileve so.......

      Am I understanding this right? You can't actually hear what the person in the video said? The words were added in by the guy that shot the video? Hardly a smoking gun.

      I have finally reached my limits with this Hitler youth indoctrination crap. Fox continuously reaches new depths of hatred. After listening to Laura Ingraham and Monica Crowley on the O'Reilly factor this morning, I've decided to watch even more of Fox news (even tho it is sickens my stomach)and boycott EVERY advertiser that places ads on this network (if it worked for Beck, maybe it'll catch on). Crowley was the last straw this morning (it seemed to me that even Ingraham thought she crossed the line). Alan Colmes's bemusement wasn't enough. Neither was Ellis Hennigan's in a later segment. Colmes and Hennigan need to demand their own show to refute/rebutt all the bulls!@t that these supposedly educated people spew. But that will never happen. These two need to have their own daily show on a different network specifically to denounce the lies and half-truths broadcasted on Faux. I don't think it was mere coincidence that Colmes left Hannity when he did. He was interfering with Sean's agenda. I'm off on the 8th, I will proudly walk with my children into school and listen with them as President Obama speaks.

      We have an immediate situation. The Usurper wants to talk to our children while they are at public school on September 8th at noon. Principles are telling parents that if they keep their children at home it will not be excused. Seems like forced indoctrination to me. So--- We need a;

      Save The Children From BS Day -----------(BS = Barry Soetoro)

      Keep the kiddos home Tuesday the 8th. Protect their young minds from Communist BS!

      Only the psychic among us know where Obama was really born ... in Kenya or in America. The facts are hidden in Hawaii.

      Similarly, only the psychic among us know what citizenship Obama legally holds ... Kenyan, American, or Indonesian. The facts are hidden in documents that Obama won't release.

      Only the psychic among us know what is in his college records, and his law practice records, and his IL state senate records. The facts are hidden by a phalanx of lawyers who have fought attempts to lift Obama's veil of secrecy.

      I'm psychic ... Obama's mother named him "International Man of Mystery." And clearly Obama is a 'citizen-of-the-world' and therefore eminently qualified to be World Leader.

      For all we know, our Happy Face president holds Manchurian citizenship, in which case he is truly 'The Manchurian Candidate."

      When I first heard about the Obama going to speak to the students, I wondered...what would have been the reaction if GWB had asked for the same consideration?

      My second thought was the NEA would have had a instantaneous obloquy, complete with desultory exploding heads, followed by the threat of a strike.

      Don't really see a problem with him speaking, if it was about the responsibilities and goals of education. However, it will be interesting if it becomes a “Alinsky-esque” Herbartianist pedagogy, designed to recruit for ACORN, Americorps , and the like.

      I'll be watching...
