Web Editor
Department: Editorial
Reports To: Managing Web Editor & Editorial Director
Location: Media Matters for America Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
Position Responsibilities:
Copyedit all website content for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, clarity, and adherence to Media Matters for America style
Remain current across a spectrum of media, including print, television, radio, and blogs
Proofread and correct website content
Participate in daily editorial meetings
Flexibility with work schedule; this position requires occasional evening and weekend work
Competencies/Qualifications:
Minimum of three years experience copyediting content at a print or online media outlet in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment
Knowledge of politics in the media
A broad range of intellectual interests, particularly in the areas of politics, current events, and the media
Ability to debate and to speak persuasively
Creative and detail-oriented attributes as well as sensitivity to deadlines required
Commitment to the organizational mission and ideology in order to effectively promote and advance the goals of Media Matters
Ability to excel in a team-based, participatory environment as well as work autonomously; good sense of humor a plus
