Really? Because according to statistics, regularly in the United States, the most persecuted religions are Jews and Muslims, and Christians are nowhere near the list, because they're the ones usually doing the persecuting.

Donahue is just mad because kids can't have teacher led prayers in school.

        ...according to statistics...

Whoa, there, Mag, this isn't about fancy "statistics", or "facts", or anything close to reality. It's about right wing victimhood, and their "feelings".

Just another example of some leftist muddying up the story with provable facts, denying another Christian's victimhood.

Catholic League President Donohue is an idiot and a bigot. I don't know why the RCC has not denounced this loon. He whines constantly about how "persecuted" Christians are but his examples are very lame. You know, like some Catholic wanting to say the rosary over the PA system at a public school---stuff like that.
I wish he and his ilk would just go away. But those on the Right love him---obviously.

How many people in USA are in prison for being a christian????How many people in USA are in prison excluding for violent crimes, are there because they are minority and broke. How many hard working people in USA got a $10 seat belt ticket they did not pay that got their license suspended. That turned into $1500 in tickets, and your car got towed.Because you did not have the money, you are in jail picking paper up on the side of the road.A slave for the city or county.Right now you have congressmen trying to pass a law requiring nationwide that your car be taken away from you with=out due process of the law.Since republican party media wants to talk about attacks on people freedom and liberty

Christians can marry, but gays can't, because it would disrupt the very fabric of god's divine creation.

Christians want our children to pray to their god in schools.

Christians want us to believe in a fairy tale notion that the universe was created in 6 days. Oh, I know. A day is like a 1000 years. Spare me. Then, if we are to rest on the 7th day, can I please get my 1000 years of REST??

Christians want us to believe that man rode dinosaurs, because Darwin was wrong.

Now, why do y'all think we make fun of Christians? Anyone care to guess? Could it be that they are a bunch of wackos who think they are right and we are going to hell? How can anyone possibly take them seriously?

Disclaimer - This is only aimed at the fundamentalist Christians who believe in the GOP's "moral values" crap. Those of you who are more tolerant, and believe in separation of church and state are OK.

[i]Gee, thanks for that, at least.

Anti-Christian bigotry should be no more tolerable than Christian bigotry. You spent your entire post accusing "Christians" of believing this and that, then wrap up with "oh, but I don't mean TOLERANT Christians. You guys are ok."

How about this- want tolerance? How about showing some in return?

(BTW, I'm an Athiest. But I hate bigotry, regardless of the direction it arrives from.)

          jjamele2880 --

Simmer down now. The use of the word "Christian" was using the same term as Donahue.

Think a moment - just exactly who complains about "anti-Christian attacks"? In what form do these supposed attacks occur?

Are Christians rounded up and sent to concentration camps? Are they lynched?

          Think. Who's complaining? And why?

It's the fundamentalist "moral values" group. Donahue was referring to them. They are the only ones complaining.

The GOP takes advantage of this group by pretending they have the corner on "moral values", and want to push their twisted ideas of Christianity on the rest of us. They want all those things I mentioned in my post. My post was direct at them.

You want an example of bigotry? To the "moral values" group, the recent defeat of gay marriage in Maine is a victory for the institution of marriage. I don't need THEM to defend my marriage by discriminating against a loving gay couple who want to marry. That's not MY values.

But, they twist their narrow interpretation of the bible around to make it say what they want it to say in order to justify their hateful actions. They are no better than that Taliban.

I used to be a raging fundamentalist. But at some point, I began to wonder about the logic of that belief system. It goes like this:

The fundamentalist claim they "know" their way is the right way. Completely delusional.

If they "know" they are right, then by definition, they don't have faith, because faith is a belief in something that cannot be proven. You can't 'know" you are right, if you have faith. You can only believe, and hope you are right.

So, if it's a matter of faith, they can be wrong.

If they can be wrong, those they oppose may be right.

There should be tolerance for others views, because people of other faiths can be just as right or wrong as anyone else.

But, we don't see such tolerance from the "moral values" dim-wits. If they shoot live ammunition at the rest of us, they certainly should expect return fire & stop whining about it.

REAL Christians know their beliefs are a matter of faith. AND they follow the 2 greatest commandments:

By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another. John 13:35

One of the Pharisees tested Jesus with a question, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).

And if a supposed "Christian" needs to completely ignore the facts of scientific evidence in order to feel secure in their beliefs, they should seriously think of moving to some deserted island. Because this country will continue to move forward based on real science, not some creation myth.

          God can survive our doubts.

Lou Dobbs is one of the reasons that I stopped watching CNN. The other reason are that CNN is either preaching doom and gloom about "your money" or "your job" when they are not pandering to Blacks with their "Black in America" series or pandering to Latinos with their "Latino in America" series. I do not want to watch crap like that. I want news, and they can't give it to the people anymore.

Well, you learn something new every day. For instance, before Donohue informed me otherwise, I would have sworn that many blacks, hispanics, and gays WERE Christians. Now we have all been edified by him that they are EXCLUDED from that designation.

I guess the Church's new slogan should be: Christianity - You Just Might Be White Enough or Us!

When I was a boy, one of the things that told me being Catholic was a good thing, was the fact that the KKK hated me, too. Then came the Civil Rights movement, and some sledgehammer blows:

          Bishops in the South defending segregation;
          KKK recruiting white Catholics;
          White Catholics joining KKK

Donohue would be very comfortable with that crowd. F**K him.
