I wonder how they'll spin the defeat of a GOP pet issue in Maine and Washington.
Oh, Liiiiimpbaaaaalls . . .
Dems WON two congressional seats (CA-10 and NY-23) . . . was that "all about Obama," too?
you are about as wrong as any one person can be about every thing. I am knot sure if you have the critical thinking of a brain dead butterfly.
That isnt even a republican these days - thats a blue dog. And this state was fed up with corzine. He was absolutely pummeled by the polls and for some of his most ridiculous policies after 2006. He was one of the richest people in the state most of it as CEO of goldman one of the biggest reasons for the financial meltdown on wall street. He had numerous fights with the assembly of his own party. He was constantly talking of raising tolls and taxes and cut a tremendous number of very popular social programs including gutting rutgers of entire subjects of study. I am just shocked it was so close.
Most people from NJ voted for the restoration of their property tax rebates, and a reduction in the income tax rate. Neither is probable, given the Democratic legislature and the stark realities of NJ's budget situation.
I had thought NJ voters were smart enough to know that Corzine was making tough decisions, rooted in the reality of the situation, and Christie was promising the moon and the stars, knowing he can't deliver. But, to quote Imus in the Morning, there are a lot of fat, middle-aged white dudes who drive Ford Explorers in this state. You can't expect them to understand fiscal policy, but they are registered to vote...
In the end, this probably only serves to delay by at least four more years the real fiscal reform NJ needs (most of which has to do with local municipal police budgets, which are bloated and corrupt to the point of being comical).
