No, because that would be assuming he is capable of embarrassment, shame or any self-reflective qualities.

People use olberman to compare him to beck and hannity and oreilly to prove that other channels are really biased. But the funny thing is while we have websites dedicated to revealing how utterly dishonest and full of lies FOX is, I never here people outraged about olberman claiming something that was blatantly dishonest. He even uses people's own quotes to back up his point. Something FOX only does when it involves ridiculous editing and something limbaugh only does, when the actual piece he is quoting is fake or a lie. Someone tell me how olberman is a perpetual promoter of falsehood and distortion and then, maybe Ill buy into the msnbc fox news comparison. Until then, FOX is so far into the deep end, it isnt even an argument anymore when actual evidence is involved.

Except for the fact that I am sure a large percentage of Limbaugh's audience would today claim that Obama wrote that thesis. The mis-information fed to them would become truth, if it is anti-Obama enough, in a certain percentage of the voting public.

You know, I find it terribly interesting that people whip out ratings over and over to try and make the point that proof of Fox News as an accurate, fair, and unbiased news organization is because there are alot of people that watch them.

Just answer this question. If Fox News is unique in its programming from all the other shows, i.e. everything else is just liberal biased media, then why should we be suprised that they get higher ratings?

Goodness, Christopher, I hope you aren't actually expecting an answer. bvb is clearly the miserable one in this exchange. He watched the video (maybe), and got extremely ticked off. So he carefully assembled the facts to put together a sound rebuttal of Olbermann's presentation. Just kidding! He either was too lazy to try, or tried and failed, but he was just too miffed to not say something (other than possibly giving thumbs downs all over the place); hence he copied and pasted some rubbish about ratings--as if that were ever a legitimate argument for truth--and let that stand as his argument. The guy's a joke, and like most neocon jokes, it isn't humorous.

Oh, and if bvb ever gets around to reading this--feel free to give me a thumbs down as well; I feel kind of naked without one.

first of all, so what? they're ratings. jerry springer gets high ratings, too. is that something to brag about? no, its trailer trash entertainment... i cant hesitate to say the same about most of fox news, either.

second, its easy to be a fox news viewer and for them to get high ratings when you fully rely on being fed propaganda talking points from a network filled with hate. maybe olbermann's viewers dont need to watch because they are already informed and dont need to drink the kool-aid from people who are set out to damage and harm anybody and anything they disagree with. beckbots and hannity nutjobs tune in every day just to hear them yell and scream about socialism, marxism, communism, and they dont even have the decency to explain what any of those things really are. they just say them as a punchline, put it on a label for the president, or some liberal that actually has the nerve to be liberal, then those stupid teabaggers make signs with the same things repeating the same BS.

i mean, please... can you actually deny that this happens?

Read John Dean's Conservative Without Conscience. It explains the phenomenon of Fox's and hate radio's ratings quite well.

But since you probably won't read it, what it basically says is that the authoritarians need continual reinforcement of their flawed belief system because the real world constantly contradicts said system.

One of the reasons the ratings are so low is that Keith wasn't there on Friday. His ratings for the day before, when he was in the chair, insteading of Larry O'Donnell, were 1.2 million viewers. But, again, ratings don't make something better, just more popular. McDonald's sells more food than any other restuarant in the whole world, but I don't think that anyone would say that the Big Mac is the greatest thing to come out of a kitchen.

Ratings are NOT representative of quality nor are they indicative of actual market shares in this case. Fox is carried in every cable/satellite market on basic cable. MSNBC is not. In most markets, one has to pay EXTRA to get MSNBC. Therefore, the fact that MSNBC is beating out CNN [which is also carried in every cable/satellite market on basic cable] is quite remarkable.

As for who watches this "idiot" anyway? People who aren't watching O'Reilly or any of the other programming in that time slot. Which brings me to the point of "who ISN'T watching cable opinion networks, including O'Reilly" at that time? The overwhelming majority of the population in this country. Most folks are watching things like NCIS, Bones, Survivor, etc. They aren't watching opinion programs.

It's kind of fun and scary in a sense to see how they will somehow twist almost anything to blame liberals. Higher ratings makes Fox lies truth and KO's pointing out the lies false <sarcasm>.

To me it just points to the fact that conservative viewers are so desperate for validation that they flock to Fox like a pulpit for Right Wing lies. It's like the womb of everything crazy...

Whose the idiot? So it's OK for the media to use made up quotes and not fact check things when it is aimed at Limbaugh...BUT it is, of course, not OK for Limbaugh to use made up information against Pres. Obama. Yeah, no double standard there. In truth neither is OK but in hour #1 Limbaugh made a big deal out of the thesis then in hour #2 or #3 he reported that the supposed thesis was a satire, which is a hell of a lot better than the press treated him with thier made up quotes. Then, he adds 'we all know he thinks it anyway' about Obama not believing in the free market system. That is exactly the excuse that the press gave when trying to legimize the fake quotes against Limbaugh.

Yes that is satire AND irony that you smell...or maybe it's just the media.

There's your problem. The reality is, the "great unwashed" IS the mainstream in this country, a collection of hard working, honest folks who are only trying to not get screwed by a government they see as getting more and more intrusive into their daily lives.
