a. A group of people holding most of the power and influence in a government or society.
The only place where liberal democrats wield the most power and influence in America is in our dreams. Obama's policies have been about as liberal as a blue dog so far despite the rants from the propaganda machine. If the liberal dems were so powerful and almighty why do we have to fight tooth and nail to get something as centrist an idea as a public option which supports the capitalist ideals of competition more than anything else passed even with majority support for it among the population. Single payer was a liberal idea. Public option is barely even a democratic standard never-mind a liberal progressive one and yet, even with majorities we can't seem to pass this thing.
If that is power, you can have it dobbs because liberals dont even want it! Real progressive ideas like massive lobbying restrictions, passing federal laws to legalize same=sex marriage in America, a single payer system, sweeping environmental and economic reforms that suffocate corporate greed, pulling out of Afghanistan and reinstalling glass steangall aren't even discussed as feasible options 99 percent of the time. Volckers idea to reinstate glass steangall was pretty much laughed at by geitner and summers even though that was progressive reform 70 years ago - some progress as we are going backwards. And radical liberal obama himself has begun to tell world leaders that we can not even compete with europe in terms of severely curbing our carbon emissions to their levels so we aren't even going to pretend. We better slow it down before we start abusing this abundance of power huh??
