      Totally agree.

Part of the problem is the alternate reality that has been created over the last 30 years whereby republicans and Reagan were the best thing to ever happen to the US.

I have spent years on dicussion boards with people who refuse to see what really happened and why since the 80's, one that conflicts with their alternate reality thanks to right wing think tanks, right wing pundits dominating radio and shaping what gets reported by the so called "liberal media"

No republican wants to admit that Reagan/Bush I had the most convictions of any administration in US history and don;t seem to recall Iran Contra, HUD Scandal & the S & L meltdown under Reagan. (funny how a banking scandal happens under republicans)

      Nixon and Watergate, etc.

Bottom line is the alternate reality that's been created is where the people reside with constant reinforcement from prominent right wing liars : Limbaugh, Hannity, et al

Thank you Paul - we love you, man...

I love how no matter how many times Paul's on TV, it always looks lie a) he just came home from an all-night dungeons & dragons bender and b) it's his first tv interview ever.

      Krugman, nails it once again.

You could give these howlers every single thing that they wanted, and they'd still find room to complain about it.

It really makes me sad to see people yelling at rallies about losing their America and not realize they are being used by their own political party as pawns in a big game of chess to get back in power.

The game the Republicans are playing right now is irresponsible at best and criminal at worst.

I don't agree 100% with some of the things he says about the economy but he nailed it here. Steamroll the GOP and get this bill going. The irony of US politics is that 10 years from now the Repubs will somehow be taking credit for it.

Great insight by Krugman, somebody needed. Besides, there are so many moderate Democrats that getting most if not all to vote with the party on any given legislation would still reflect widespread agreement on the issue. If we had a multiparty system, the Republican party would be nothing more than fringe group, nor should we regard them as anything more under current circumstances.

Mr. Krugman so perfectly cuts through all the dense rhetorical fog and expresses what is in the thoughts of clear and rational thinking people.

He's right, of course. These town hall meetings look like a scene from Idiocracy.

The people raising hell are either Republicans who have been pi$$ed off since November anyway, or Republican political operatives with a set of talking points. There may be a few senior citizens who are genuinely concerned, but they're all worked up over lies the Republicans have told them.

The Republicans don't give a rat's ass about Healthcare reform. Their one goal is to embarrass Obama and cripple him going into the next election. If they retake the House, they'll try to impeach him over the phony Birth Certificate "Controversy".
