        The headline left out the best part of Matthews' question: "Nearly six months into his presidency, is Barack Obama more clearly a radical, like FDR was, or more like a true conservative?"

        I don't know if he was a "true" conservative (or "like" one), but FDR was, I believe, more conservative than radical. I believe historians of all stripes now credit FDR with preserving our system of capitalism.

      If someone is a "true conservative" they ARE clearly radical.

        I recall when Barry Goldwater retired, he mysteriously morphed from "Mister Conservative" to 'another left-winger' in the eyes of the NeoCons. Notably, Goldwater's comments on gays in the military...

            They tried that excuse after the 2006 elections. However, if voters were upset about Republicans being too liberal, why would they vote for the party that is more center-left?

      Obama is too "can't we all just get along" for my taste. He should say to republicans what they say to American people everyday - "Screw you".

      chris matthews tows the propaganda line too much when he does his syndicated show. on msnbc, he is usually just fine for my taste.
