Words of wisdom from Scarborough. But they won't fall on any open ears in the GOP or those of conservatives. He said the exact same thing at this year's CPAC (which I would have been embarassed for as a conservative) and crickets chirped.

"picking fights with late night comics": your stupid feud with Jon Stewart made you look like a fool, Joe.

It's frustrating and even sad in a way, to hear people talk about Public and National Policy, and talk about the people we elect to make and carry out that Policy (our Congresspersons and the administrators of our Federal Government), it's sad to hear this discussed purely in terms of marketing and public relations, the way this 'Republican strategist' murphy did in the video clip.

He spoke of 'demographics' like an automobile manufacturer speaks of the car-buying market... like sellers speak of buyers...

"What is the market buying? If we can just nail down the market's desires and fears and dreams, then we'll know what form to give our product, then we'll know just what it is they're buying, and we'll be the ones to sell it to them!"

It's sad to think that we'd elect people to make and enforce U.S. Law, based upon their knowledge of the demographics of the market, and upon their ability to sell and influence and manipulate and con and trick that market, into buying...

You know that slick character on television, on those infomercials, the guy selling "Nature's Miracle Cures" and other books and crap and whatever, you know that guy?

The Republican National Committee needs to get that guy on board, as the lead salesperson of their political party... also these other salespersons on television, like the various meat-heads selling you home exercise equipment, and the guys who sell kitchen gadgets that slice and dice and chop and you can make your own cole slaw and your own french fries for just three easy payments of 19.99 but wait act now and you get newt gingrich too...

The same guy in the video clip, murphy the 'Republican stragetist', he said newt gubgrich was a "powerful force" in the Republican Party...

A powerful force to do what, to sell the American People something?

This 'Republican strategist' murphy, on the one hand he notes how Republicans are losing or have lost the "Hispanic demographic" (my words, not his... he pretty much said the "Jose demographic", didn't he?), and then he says newt gingrich is a "powerful force" in the Republican Party...

Yeah right, calling Judge Sotomayor a racist had a very powerful forceful effect on Jose, didn't it?

It's sad... the Republican Party drove itself into a ditch with the American People, abusing the power of making and enforcing U.S. Law, an abuse that can be summed up in the words BUSH and IRAQ and CONGRESSIONAL ETHICS (delay and ney and randall 'duke' cunningham and the many others in jail or on their way there), and many other words too...

But all they have to do is "re-brand themselves" (isn't that what joe scarborough said), all they have to do is make a better sales pitch, to know better the 'demographic' and know better how to influence and manipulate the market, the buyers, the American People...

The more they try to sell me, the less I'm going to buy them... the more they speak about the American People as though they were just a collection of 'demographics', of markets and sub-markets, the more they do that, the less qualified they are to write and enforce U.S. Law, the more disqualified they are to make and carry out Public and National Policy.

I'm not buying the Republican Party and the crap they make, crap like newt gingrich...

That's just me, I'm saying "no sale", I'm not buying it... maybe they want to ask Jose though, maybe he's buying their crap, maybe he's buying newt gingrich the "powerful force" in the Republican Party (according to the 'Republican strategist' murphy).

What they really have to do is to stop running right wing racists and alaskan trailer park trash as viable candidates. And drop that southern strategy, now that the south is the only block that votes republican, all they can do is fight immigration in the south to keep it "republican". If they don't start re-connecting with the northern states that southern strategy is just gonna be a downward spiral of heating up the rhetoric against hispanics, losing the hispanic vote, losing the whitehouse, trying to reconnect with the hispanics, lather, rinse and repeat...

Snoop, that's not entirely accurate about the South. Didn't VA go for Obama? Also, in NC, we have a democratic state legislature, and Liddy Dole got bounced from her Senate seat as well. And a dem governor.

So, not all southern states vote en bloc with republicans.

VA was a pleasant surprise, but it wasn't a democratic landslide. I'm thinking in context of the southern strategy, which is a well known republican election plan.

The GOP is unable to comprehend that America ain't buying their product. Repacking, understanding demographics, getting back to core conservative principles (love that euphemism) still leaves you with bankrupt ideas. As the old cowboy said, "You can put a butterfly on a cow patty, but it's still a cow patty."

Jesus, now they gotta compare Michelle to a gorilla? I'm pretty sure Palin won't complain though...

Rusty DePass, a former chairman of the Richland County Republican Party, made the comments in a friend’s Facebook status update line after a gorilla was reported to have escaped from Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo.

According to FitsNews, the status line read: “I’m sure it’s just one of Michelle’s ancestors — probably harmless.”

But he was only a former GOP chairman, not anybody directly associated with the party, like Obama's minions of late night comedians. At least that's the way I've been hearing it.

I don't know what the Repubs' plan is for winning back the middle. They've been working hard at characterizing any moderates as flaming leftist radicals, while pandering to the most ignorant far right fringe.

Their plan is called Diebold and a thorough review of the Iranian election results. Nothing like a little armed insurrection to keep people from voting, right Col? ;)

            You mention Diebold...

It's very important that everyone know, that Diebold changed their name a few years back (there's no such thing as Diebold anymore, as far as I know), they are now Premier Election Solutions...

That's important, important enough to type it out twice:

The company formerly known as Diebold, under extraordinary and well-founded suspicions about their honesty, simply changed their name (and hoped no one noticed) to Premier Election Solutions.

A few things to note here:

Premier Elections Solutions is headquartered in Allen Texas, and of course if there's anybody in this world we should trust to count our votes for us, they're in Texas aren't they?

Also, note that they refer to "Solutions" in their company name : "solutions" implies "problems", which is what they want you to think there is with voting... problems that only they can "solve", hence they say "Elections Solutions" in their new name.

The past officers of this company that makes and sells "electronic voting machines" (because you can't cast or count your votes without an electronic machine to do that, can you), the various crooks in that corporate family, include jeff dean, who put "back door passwords" into the company's software that was made for ATM machines, to get into those machines and draw money out without anyone possibly knowing or missing the money... that's trustworthy for you, isn't it... he was caught and convicted, but it just makes us wonder what it is they can or have done, that they didn't get caught at... also walter o'dell, the guy famous for saying that he'd ensure George W. Bush was elected at all costs, he left the company once he became bad press (just as the name Diebold became bad press, so they simply changed the name), and o'dell also dabbled in whatever crimes would yield him a profit, he was charged with insider trading I believe it was... more trustworthiness, right?

I can't for the life of me figure people who are so lazy or so stupid or so gullible, that they can't or won't record their all-important votes on paper, in ink, making a permanent and inspectable and therefore verifiable record of their vote, and then count those votes by hand... I can't figure out why people would say no to this easy simple and virtually incorruptable method of casting and counting votes, and sub-contract out the job instead, to crooks in Texas who make machines that they program and control for you.

            Here's a couple of links...

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_Election_Solutions

            http://www.premierelections.com/about_us/

The Premier Elections Solutions link above, is to their "About Us" page : it's noteworthy, that that page used to mention that they are the company formerly known as Diebold... the page doesn't say that anymore... first they change their name, and then they disavow and ignore their former selves...

It gives one a sense of integrity and honesty and trustworthiness, doesn't it?

Since Republicans don't have any power anyways, I hope they keep mopving to the far right fringe. That way Obama can keep being a good centrist like I want and liberals won't have any other options.

          It's all good.

A third party is probably in order at this point.

              Harley,

I think we'd like him to be a Centrist...like a Bill Clinton. I'm a Con who always liked Bill.

Extreme right or left is not a great place for this country. IMO.

How come teabaggers want a "Centrist" when a Dem is in office, but they want an extreme conservative when Con is in office?

How come teabaggers spend every waking moment smearing Obama with claims of being a 'Communist', 'Marxist', etc, but yet he's now being considered a "Centrist"?

Don't be fooled. Scarborough occasionally goes through lucid periods when he starts to make sense.

It usually takes about 2 weeks for him to start sounding like a lunatic again.

Have you noticed how Joe is shown making several statements displaying a reasonable, thoughtful side so soon after Jon Stewart handed him his ass on a platter? Joe's trying hard not to lose the young, smart, Starbucks demographic who saw right through Joe's pathetic attempt to portray his sucking up to Howard Shultz as sarcasm.
Scarborough is quite plastic but I find him unwatchable ever since his despicable performance in March 2005. His attempt to browbeat Dr Cranford (who also handed him his ass on a platter) one night in defense of his lovely young familiar was unconscionable. He never apologized to Michael Schiavo just as he spent a week pretending his pandering was ironic. May MSNBC go the route of the dinosaur it is.

I clearly don't get the censorship here. I'm making reasonable comments, yet none show up for days. Joe, as I said before got ripped by Jon Stewart and seems to be thinking of that.
I can't stand the guy for what he did in Florida during the Schiavo case. There's no coming back from that in a rational world. Pundit world is where you can say anything and it won't count.

Joe is now speaking intelligently. There must be some episode in his personal life that puts him in touch with his human side and not just his t v personality. Too little though. Make a real statement now. Express approval for the things you see you like in the revising of America and it's financial institutions. Do some news reporting and not news repeating and I will watch you again.

This is the same guy who said on his show that Obama has made us less safe, Obama is a socialist, and compared Obama to Kim Jong il. So, now he writes a book and makes a statement that this types of speech hurt us, trying to exclude himself from group. Same ol' Joe acting like i've never said any of these things. Everyone on this blog and watchin Joe has figured out that he and other so called strategist for the republicans are trying to change fundamentaly, but that they should just say what everybody wants to hear and if they are elected do what we want. Like i said same ol' Joe.

So, let me get this straight the strategy is to tell people what they want to hear and when they fall for it then do whatever you intended to do in the first place regardless of how the people who voted for you think. Oh, by the way this same guy who caleed Obama a socilist, he's made america left safe, and compared Obama to Kim il Jung. If anybody believes that Joe is just trying to be good conservative, you are being naive.
