Article critical of GOP health care bill vanishes from WSJ website

November 03, 2009 11:08 am ET by Karl Frisch

Last night if you went to this link, you would have seen this Wall Street Journal story headlined "GOP Health Bill Gives Insurers More Leeway":

This morning, however, if you attempted using the very same link, you'd find an entirely different story, by an entirely different reporter, under an entirely different headline.

Why did the Journal replace an article that simply pointed out that the yet to be released House GOP health care plan would benefit insurers with a piece about how House Democrats were working to deal with the issues of "abortion" and "illegal immigrants" in their reform plan?

If you run a search for the headline of the original Journal article, you'll get a bunch of links directing you to it, though none of them actually send you to the original story. The links are either broken, to different stories or direct you to the new Journal piece focusing on House Democrats.

So what gives?

Uh-oh. Sounds like somebody posted an article that was not formally Murdoch approved. Heads will roll... On the upside, the next weekend's polo matches should be much more entertaining. (And, yes, I did just humorously imply that Mr. Murdoch was so callous as to not only have an employee decapitated, but further that he would use it for the ball in a polo match, just to prove how nefariously evil he is. That ain't a patch on what his Propaganda outlets have ladled out on our President, though.)

I found the article at two other sites that don't appear to be related to WSJ. See http://english.capital.gr/news.asp?id=844778 and http://news.morningstar.com/newsnet/ViewNews.aspx?article=/DJ/200911021910DOWJONESDJONLINE000431_univ.xml

I found these by googling the author's name plus keywords that appeared in the first sentence but not in the headline, "Corey Boles House Republican Boehner" and, as you can see, the article was retitled. However, it is still not available on the WSJ, at least not under the author's name or under the revised headline. They've apparently pulled it, substituting the new article. I find that unconscionable, but not surprising :-|
