Morris: Obama awarded Nobel Prize as part of Euro plot to "reverse the American Revolution and re-colonize us"

October 09, 2009 5:11 pm ET by Media Matters staff

From Dick Morris and Eileen McGann's October 9 column:

Whether it was rewarding Jimmy Carter for criticizing the Iraq war or supporting Al Gore in his crusade against global warming, the Norwegian parliament, which chooses the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize, has sought to use the award as a political tool to influence American politics.

Its prestige and moral power make the prize a potent weapon with which to help steer the direction of the colossus beyond the seas that controls a quarter of the world's economy and most of its military power.

Now, the Norwegians have weighed in to support Barack Obama in his bid to reshape America so it looks more like, well, Norway, or at least like Europe.

European socialism cannot succeed without conquering the United States.

[...]

The Nobel Prize is really Obama's payback for disciplining the unruly United States and taming it to be a member of the European family of nations. Europe wants to reverse the American Revolution and re-colonize us, and it sees in Obama a kindred spirit willing to do its bidding.

[...]

All this heavy lifting, this conversion of America into a European state, deserves a reward. And what is a more fitting one than to give Obama than the Nobel Peace Prize?

He obviously doesn't deserve the award for economics or, given his healthcare ideas, for medicine. But the Peace Prize expresses Europe's longing: to take back the nation its overly ambitious and uppity children founded.

My Lord, the rebels seem to be winning the war and we may lose the colony.
Don't worry my faithful servant, I have a plan that will bring these rebellious colonists to their knees. In about 200 or so years we will give their leader a peace award and BAM we have them right where we want them. Now for this plan to work we need him to first fail in his bid to bring the Olympic games to eschigago.
Genius plan my Lord. There is no way it can fail.

Who listens to Dick Morris for anything? He's a repugnant little man. A bitterly aging curmudgeon. What else is there to say? I mean I know die hard Republicans that mock him. I mean real live GOPers! People who still identify with that title... and on a side note, I read the column, he actually wrote this without a Clinton reference! I'm amazed by his personal growth.

Before we hand over the country to the Euros...

Obama is going to imprison every person who has any connection to Fox News, or any person who HAD any connection to Fox News, and anyone whose last name begins with DO. These secret memos were released today to World Net Daily and commentator George F. Will.

        So long, Lou!

The Nobel Prize is really Obama's payback...

Ah, they've learned well from El Rushbo. After a few lines of crazy opinions presented as serious opinions, Morris & McGann go to the wingnut old faithful, the "what this really means is...", at which point they can present crazy opinions as fact, and can just go off on an analysis of whatever fantastic strawmen they can come up with.

I know somebody personally who reads Dick Morris and some of these other hacks at Townhall, Human Events, etc, and considers this stuff very "thought -provoking".It's disturbing.

This secret agenda that Obama has doesn't really seem achievable in only four years, or eight for that matter.

I think this discussion should center on "Why does Obama deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?" After 9 months in office, a flurry of idealogical activity, and expressed intentions - I personally don't get it. I'm on the fence between right and left always striving to look at both sides.

I hoenstly can't understand the peace prize award to Obama. He was nominated barely two weeks after his inauguration. He hadn't done anything yet or even 9 months later to advance peace. To the contrary, we voted for him to get us out of two seaprate US wars and close Gitmo. Obama receives the Peace prize as he is still fighting two wars, one of which he is considering escalating and adding troops too. And when he is still running an open Gitmo.

How is he advancing peace? He lied to us during his campaign to garner our votes and now he is being rewarded for that? SImply because he can make speeches about what he might do, but has not done? He's been in office 9 months. He owns these wars now. he is the commander-in-chief. He can bring our boys home. he has not. Obama lied, troops have died.

I thought he had a perfect opportunity to extricate us from Iraq and Afghanistan during his UN speech where he said there would be no more US unilateral actions. At that point, he could have put our money where his mouth is and said to the world: "and in the new spirit of cooperation and multilaterism, the U.S. is pulling all but a token force out of Iraq and Afghanistan in favor of the UN taking over both operations and garnering multilateral support and troops from all cocnerned nations."

Had he done that...I'd given him the prize myself. He didn't. He needs to start leading by actions not speeches. Get us out of these wars now!

I can't think of anything worse than becoming like one of those European countries. Just look how they're suffering over there, with their universal health care, no-tuition education, 5 weeks of vacation, 12 months maternity leave, and more. How would I survive?
